Gruppo Aturia Pumps supply in Cavaliera Pumping Station Project
The Cavaliera Pumping Station represents a state-of-the-art hydraulic infrastructure designed to enhance water management efficiency and ensure the safety and resilience of the Burana-Volano Basin. This strategic project, financed under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), serves an extensive area of 324,000 hectares across the provinces of Modena, Ferrara, and Mantua, home to approximately 335,000 residents and a thriving agro-industrial sector.
The new facility will significantly increase the discharge capacity into the Po River, raising the current capability from 40 m³/s to a total of 100 m³/s. This improvement is essential to mitigate flood risks, safeguard urban and industrial areas, and support irrigation during increasingly frequent drought periods.
Gruppo Aturia’s Contribution
As part of this ambitious project, Gruppo Aturia will supply 12 high-performance electric pumps, each with a capacity of 5.2 m³/s and an installed power of 830 kW, operating at medium voltage. These pumps will form the core of the new lifting system, ensuring reliability and efficiency in managing large water volumes under varying hydraulic conditions.
The Cavaliera Pumping Station is scheduled for completion by March 30, 2026, and will comply with the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principle, aligning with environmental sustainability objectives.
This project stands as one of the most significant hydraulic works undertaken in Emilia-Romagna in recent decades, reinforcing the region’s commitment to climate adaptation, territorial safety, and agricultural competitiveness.
